WSJ Article on Eagle Scouts

August 01, 2012 By: Kevin Category: BSA News, Eagle Scout, Service Project

“The Eagles’ service project is the single greatest youth-service initiative in history, and one that has touched every community in America in an important way”, states an article by Michael Malone in the Wall Street Journal.  This is a great read to see just how much Scouting has touched this country.

Volunteer opportunity with Seattle DPR and Carkeek Park

August 26, 2010 By: troop151 Category: Announcement, Eagle Scout, Service Project

I am Brian Gay, Public Programming Naturalist with Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation (based at Carkeek Park, address below). I have worked with Scouts in many capacities here at Carkeek to fulfill many service opportunities from Eagle Scout projects to flag ceremonies and more. I would like to offer scouts in your Troop the opportunity to participate with and support our unique orchard and its annual Festival of Fruit on 9/18. We have a variety of positions that a responsible Scout (or 4) could help us with.

Please contact me if you have time that morning to help us (about 3 – 4 hours would be great).

Carkeek Park is currently recruiting for 2010 volunteer Beach Docents, Forest Volunteers, Trails Volunteers, Orchard Volunteers, Salmon Support Volunteers, Backyard Habitat Caretakers, and More!
