2 Area Marines Killed
Marines from Seattle and Renton have died in Vietnam, the Defense Department announced yesterday.
The Associated Press said Lance Cpl George F. Vise, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Vise, 838 N.E. 80th St., died of causes other than hostile action.
Corporal Vise, born in Seattle, died 12 Apr (1968) after being mistaken for the enemy and shot while on night patrol in the Quang Nam area. He entered the Marine Corps in July, 1966, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton until going to Vietnam in December. He was serving in the Da Nang area with the Headquarters and Service Bn.
Corporal Vise graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1966. He attended Alki Elementary School and Marshall Jr High School. The family resided in Hawaii two years while he was in elementary school. He managed the Roosevelt football team three years.
He was a member of Calvary Temple and was a Boy Scout and Explorer Scout with Troop 151.
Surviving Corporal Vise are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Vise; two brothers, Ronald, 18, and Rick Vise, 16, and four sisters, Susan, 15; Donna Ray, 10; Leslie Ann, 7, and Misty Joy Vise, 3 all at home.
