Volunteer opportunity with Seattle DPR and Carkeek Park

August 26, 2010 By: troop151 Category: Announcement, Eagle Scout, Service Project

I am Brian Gay, Public Programming Naturalist with Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation (based at Carkeek Park, address below). I have worked with Scouts in many capacities here at Carkeek to fulfill many service opportunities from Eagle Scout projects to flag ceremonies and more. I would like to offer scouts in your Troop the opportunity to participate with and support our unique orchard and its annual Festival of Fruit on 9/18. We have a variety of positions that a responsible Scout (or 4) could help us with.

Please contact me if you have time that morning to help us (about 3 – 4 hours would be great).

Carkeek Park is currently recruiting for 2010 volunteer Beach Docents, Forest Volunteers, Trails Volunteers, Orchard Volunteers, Salmon Support Volunteers, Backyard Habitat Caretakers, and More!

Scouting for Food wrapup

March 15, 2010 By: troop151 Category: Service Project

Thanks to all the scouts who came out Sat to do Scouting for Food.

All together we collected 360 items of food.
That is 90 items an hour or more than 1 each minute we all stood out in the cold.

Great job!!!
